fast track to
distributed technologies

The Fast Track to Distributed Technologies training programme is designed to introduce the major technologies that underlie the multi-tiered, service based architectures, being created today

Aimed primarily at developers, the series provides a practical introduction to distributed technologies. The purpose is not to teach each technology exhaustively, but instead to provide sufficient detail to allow concepts to be understood, and simple example systems to be built. Ultimately the aim is to provide a real sense of how modern distributed applications work, and to build a foundation from which people can start to learn and apply the technology.

The follow topics are covered:

  • Technology Overview
  • Operating Systems
  • Applying Unix/Linux & Windows
  • Programming Languages
  • Object-Oriented Programming
  • Java Programming
  • Perl Scripting
  • Database Technology
  • Networking
  • Web & Internet Technologies
  • Web Systems Development
  • .NET, ASP.NET & C#
  • Middleware
  • XML Programming
  • Service Based Architecture

People attending this programme are expected to have some experience of computer systems, programming, and of using web technology.

This programme consists of 26 half-day sessions and is offered in a variety of formats ranging from one day per-week through to an intensive 3 week session.
